Exhibition “Vasily Polenov” is devoted to the 175 anniversary of famous Russian painter. Youth of Polenov is connected with Olonets region. Polenov’s family liked to spend summer and autumn time in their house in Imochentsi village. They loved northern nature.
During 1861-1863 Vasily Polenov had been studying at school for boys in Petrozavodsk, which was located in museum’s building.
Exhibition devoted to Polenov is organized in the Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Karelia for the first time. The project was organized in partnership with Polenovo State Museum, which gave unique drawings and water-colours painted during the period of Polenov’s life in Imochentsi.
You have a chance to enjoy artworks of Polenov’s mother – Maria Alexeevna and his sisters – Vera and Elena.
Study masterpieces of Polenov’s friends – Ilya Repin, Valentin Serov, Alexey Bogolubov and Polenov’s students – Isaak Levitan, Konstantin Korovin, Sergey Vinogradov,Vitold Byalinitsin-Birulya.
For the first time visitors can study rare documents from The National archive of Karelia.
