Exhibition “Francesco Caraccio. Silent Dance. Dedication to Carla Fracci”
On September 27 at the Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Karelia the exhibition of the modern Italian artist Francesco Caraccio “Silent Dance” opens. The ballet series by Francesco Caraccio is often compared to the masterpieces of Edgar Degas. The exhibition will feature 30 works.
The author, who recently turned 68 years old, was born in Italy, and educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgium. His art career began early in his life. At the age of 17 he was a participant in prestigious collective exhibitions in Brussels, at 28 – the author of a personal exhibition in Italy and at 29, Francesco in France met with Marc Chagall, who became a spiritual teacher for the young artist.
Interest appeared in classical dance at Caraccio in the early 80s when he lived in America. His inspiration reinforced his acquaintance with famous ballet dancers. Today, the artist’s works are presented in galleries and museums in the main cities of Italy.
The exhibition is dedicated to Carla Fracci, whose name is on a par with the names of the great ballerinas – Galina Ulanova and Maya Plisetskaya. She went on stage with Rudolf Nureyev and Mikhail Baryshnikov.
The curator of the exhibition “Silence of Dance” is Enzo Fornaro, who has been collaborating with various museums in Russia for many years.
“Unfortunately, it is characteristic of the modern world that the artist is not known outside the borders of his country. We are not familiar with many Russian talents; and you are not familiar with ours. Because of this, exhibitions are needed so that art penetrates across borders,”says Enzo Fornaro.
The organizers of contemporary art expositions have already brought to Petrozavodsk the works of contemporary Italian masters. The new exhibition is the second meeting of Petrozavodsk citizens with contemporary Italian art.
You will be able to see the ballet series “Francesco Caraccio” until November 11, 2019.
