The new exhibition was opened on June 1st, 2018. The ehxibition is devoted to creative work and art collecting activity of Maria Feodorovna Romanova (Danish princess Dagmar), the wife of Alexander III and the mother of the last Russian emperor Nikolay II.
Maria Feodorovna was very talented in piano playing and painting. In the Museum of Fine Arts there are 3 works by Maria Feodorovna and they are represented at the new exhibition.
The Museum of Fine Arts also possesses a part of the famous collection from Anichkov Palace, Saint-Petersburg, that was collected by Maria Feodorovna during her life.
Maria Feodorovna and her husband Emperor Alexander III also initiated opening of the Russian Museum in Saint-Petersburg.
From June 1st till September 11th, 2018 the guests of the Museum of Fine Arts of Karelia have a great opportunity to visit the exhibition “Maria Feodorovna the Empress: an artist and famous art collector”.
